| Installing Microsoft
Indexing Services (Index Server)
(Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003)
Overview:
This tutorial focuses on Installing Microsoft Indexing
Services and locating the Management Interface via Computer
Management.

1. Open 'Add/Remove' Programs:
Click 'Start', 'Settings', 'Control Panel' and 'Add/Remove
Programs' as shown in Fig 1 above.
If you are using the new-style start menu click 'Start',
'Control Panel' and 'Add/Remove Programs'. |

3. Install the Indexing Service:
Check the 'Indexing Service' checkbox and press 'Next'
(Fig 3 above).
You may be asked to insert your Windows disk as the
Windows Components Wizard installs the Indexing Service.
Click "Finish" when this process is complete.
You have now installed the Indexing Service. To open
and configure the Indexing Service, follow the next
two steps. |

4. Opening Computer Management:
Right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage' as
shown above.
If you are using the new-style start menu click 'Start',
then Right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'. |

5. Opening the Indexing Service
management interface:
Expand 'Services and Applications' by clicking the plus
icon next to it.
Expand 'Indexing Service' by Clicking the plus icon
next to it (as shown). Right-click on the Indexing Service
item and select 'Properties' to view the various configuration
options available.
